My Qualifications

A successful broadcaster with 9 years experience and proven skills, which include:

  1. Listening to the needs of clients and management, to understand and appropriately represent their interests, while delivering content based on solid research.

  2. Using my creativity and sense of humour to develop rapport with people of all ages and walks of life, so as to develop questioning techniques that will stimulate interesting discussion.

  3. Quick thinking, while under pressure to create ad lib content, which is interesting and suitable for broadcast.

  4. Organizing and assessing teams to enhance their productivity through heightened communication, tempered with empathy.

  5. Explaining to varied groups and individuals required behaviours for the production of broadcast worthy programming.

  6. Demonstrating superior communication and public speaking performance skills to influence and impress groups of all sizes.

My Achievements

Developed into a well respected, credible, knowledgeable and passionate weather announcer; who was in turn was asked to train others in this specialty over the years.

Demonstrated impressive interaction with guests of all ages during pre-show preparation and on air execution. This skill resulted in many successful, humorous and relaxed interviews on 'A' Morning, where the guests felt comfortable and countless viewers were thoroughly entertained.

Received a series of promotions, from the on-location remote host on New Day, to one of the main show hosts and then to a senior associate producer within 6 years. These promotions can be attributed to the fact that 'A' Morning became the number one morning show in Southern Ontario after the second season and that the show’s ratings continued to grow over the years..

Successfully hosted store commercials over the holiday season at White Oaks Mall. These commercials were not only successful, but profitable for the sponsors and resulted in another contract offer the following year.

Recommended future ideas to the station’s News Director and suggested changes to the show that would, in my opinion, benefit the production and increase viewership. The transitional changes in September 2008 were a direct result of my ideas and the concepts presented to the New Director months prior.

Successfully produced, researched and executed a two-hour call in talk show with several guests from the community on CHRW radio. The end result was an entertaining, informed look at current events and hot topics in the city that mattered to the listeners.

Successfully interviewed the Honorable Paul Martin about his new book and the economic state of the country. What resulted was a creative, entertaining look into Paul Martin’s personal life. Many colleagues complimented me on my approach and on the information which surfaced as a result.

Created, planned and executed a morning show victory breakfast for the winners of the last municipal election. The event enjoyed a vast turnout and was the object of much positive publicity for the station and for myself, from both industry insiders and participants alike.

Successfully produced ‘live hits’ for the political show, Inquiry, during the Conservative National Convention, which was held in London in 2008. Received praise from the show host and executive producer, Jennifer Hall, who is now a political specialist on Parliament Hill in Ottawa.

Successfully anchored several in-studio segments, including a satellite interview out of Chicago, for a national farm show called ‘Agvision’. In spite of my limited agricultural background, we produced a very successful interview with a well respected farming expert out of Chicago, which received national coverage.

Successfully interviewed my childhood role model, figure skating Olympic silver medalist, Elizabeth Manley. This memorable encounter took a genuine look at the struggles of Elizabeth Manley and the lessons she learned along the way.
